Use self-paced sessions to share questionnaires and files so that participants can answer questions autonomously.

How to enable questionnaires for independent learning?

The Self-Paced Session tab allows you to create questionnaires which the audience can answer at their pace, at home or anywhere, asynchronously, and to share files they can download. Questionnaires are a great way for you to evaluate your participants' level of knowledge before or after a session, as well as to ask them for feedback.

Please note that participants can answer these questionnaires only through the web. SMS text participation is not available for this format.

All Wooclap users can create questionnaires. A Wooclap subscription is needed to share questionnaires with participants.

Enabling self-paced questionnaires in Wooclap for asynchronous learning

To create a Questionnaire, first go to the tab titled Self-Paced Session. Click on Create questionnaire to produce your first Questionnaire.

You can then create questions the same way you would in a Live Session:

  • Select the type of question you would like to ask the audience (e.g. a Multiple choice question).

  • Fill in the required fields (e.g. the question and the possible answers) and click on Save.

Note the option Hide the correct answers on the right side of the screen when editing your Questionnaire. As long as this option is active, participants will not be able to consult the correct answers to the questions once they have filled in the questionnaire. You will need to communicate the correct answer yourself or share the report of the questionnaire.

Import questions from a live session

You can also choose to import already created questions. After creating your Questionnaire, click on Import questions and select the event you want to import your questions from. You can then select the questions you want to add to your Questionnaire.


There is also the option to import questions from Wooflash, an Excel file or from Brightspace.

Add files to questionnaires

To add a file, first click on Add file and select the file on your computer. The file will then be converted and you will be able to share it with your participants by turning on the toggle.

You can share any type of file with your participants. The file size cannot exceed 75 MB.

Let participants access the Questionnaires and Files

You can make a Questionnaire or a File available to the participants by using its On/Off toggle. As long as it’s marked as Published, the audience will be able to access the content using your event's code.

Alternatively, you can also share the link of your Questionnaire by clicking on Share and copying the link.


The Questionnaires and Files will be available as long as they are published and no live question is presented for the same event. If no live question is presented, participants will be able to choose the Questionnaire they want to participate in or the Files they want to consult.

Use cases for Self-Paced Sessions

  • Ask participants to start answering to a Brainstorming or an Open question asynchronously, and display the question during the session while participants keep answering. Combined with authentication, you will be able to identify who answered what!

  • Let participants work on some exercises at their own pace during the session, and then correct the exercises by displaying the results to your audience.

  • Collect feedback or insights before and after your session

  • Ask positioning questions before your lesson or training, so you know the starting point of your participants
