How to use the Message Wall for interactive Q&A and photo sharing?
The Message Wall is an efficient way for you to gather your audience's questions, comments, images and thoughts during a presentation. It also has the added benefit of giving every member of the audience an equal chance at taking part in the debate.
Activate the Message Wall
To activate the Message Wall for your event, first go to your event's ⚙️ Settings. Under Message Wall you can Activate the Message Wall (1). This will let participants send you all their questions.
To maximize its efficiency, Allow likes (2) for your Message Wall. This will allow the respondents to prioritize each other's questions by liking them.
You can also Allow images (3) so participants can add images to their answers.
Displaying the Message Wall
Once you display a question or click on Start Event, participants will be able to access the Message Wall and send their questions or images.
During a presentation, you can display the Message Wall at any time by clicking on the Messages button at the bottom of the screen.
Once you are ready to start answering some of these questions, you can choose how to display them. You can always click on a message to display it in full-screen and see an image in a larger scale.
Click on the little heart ❤️ at the bottom of the screen to display the messages in descending order of popularity. This only works if you Allow likes.
Click on the button on the left side of the screen to display these messages as a grid. This will let you better see images that were sent.
If you have turned on the categories in the Moderator interface, you'll see colored bulbs on the left side of the screen. You can click on any of these bulbs to display only the messages which have been stored in that category.
💡These different options can be combined between them. For example, it is possible to have a gridview organized by number of likes.
To exit the Message Wall and go back to your question, click on Questions at the bottom of your screen.
Participant view
Students who participate online can access the Message Wall by clicking on the bubble in the bottom right corner of their screen. This bubble will only appear if you activate the Message Wall.
Once there, they can:
Send images (by either selecting one on their device or taking a new picture), provided you allow them to.
Send questions and comments about your presentation.
Like the messages other participants have posted on the wall, provided you allow them to. All messages will be displayed only when you Allow likes. Otherwise, participants will only see their own messages.
☝️Note that participants will not see each other's name. They will however see other participants' photograph if they set one up in their profile.
As a presenter, you can only see a sender's name when using the moderator interface if you activate authentication for your event.
Participants can also send questions to the Message Wall by SMS. However, they can't send any images or like each other's messages. SMS text messages which are sent while you are displaying the Message Wall or while there is no vote in progress will be displayed on the Message Wall.
Export the messages
You can export the messages received on your Message Wall in Excel format. You can either click on Export messages to Excel on the Message Wall settings, or download the Excel report of your event.
In either case, you will find the messages under the tab names "Wall" in your Excel file. You will also find the sender's name or pseudonym, depending on your authentication settings for the event. Note that images will not be displayed in the report.
If you activated the categories in the Moderator interface, you will see the different Categories with their questions. You will also be able to see how many questions were sent online and how many were sent by SMS.
