Label an image

Be it for guessing the name of countries on a world map or labelling the different parts of the human body, Label an image is here for you!

Updated over a week ago

Using captions, this question type allows you to place numbers on an image and then have your students guess what the designated labels are. You can also choose to add a blur, which is useful for hiding an existing caption, or synonyms.

This question type is available for all Wooclap users.

How to label an image?

You can also import an already created Brainstorming question from our Examples gallery. Head on to Examples gallery and choose Label an image under Question type. You can then add the question of your choice to your event. You can also directly reach these examples by clicking on See examples when creating your question.

Customize the Label an image question

Once you have created your Label an image question, you can add an image and define the correct labels.

Start by adding the question you want to ask your audience (1). This will let the participants know what to do.

Next, upload the image your participants will label (2). You can choose any image from your computer.

Once you have uploaded your image, you can start labelling it. A first label will be created when you choose your image. You can move this label freely around your image. On the right, you can define the right answer for the label. Note that you can add more than one right answer, if there are different ways of spelling for example.

You can add more zones by clicking on the + or by clicking on the image. You can also blur an area to hide some parts of the image. Click on the garbage can next to the label to delete it. You can click on Reset to remove all labels as well as the image.

Do you have a pre-labelled image? In that case, click on Auto-label this image to instantly generate labels. It will even create blurred areas automatically.

Note that some adjustments might be needed on the labels that are created automatically. We use the Amazon Textract technology to auto-label images. You can find out more in our Trust Center and our AI Policy.

The Ignore small errors option, located on the right side of the design interface, prevents participants from being penalised for accents or capital letters mistakes.

Furthermore, you can add a timer to your question.

All that is left to do it save your question or display it!

Launch the Label an image question

Once you have clicked on Display now or Display, the question you have prepared will appear on your screen. You can then invite your participants to join your event and answer.

Please note that all captions must be filled in before your participants can submit their answer.

To display the results of your Label an image question, click on Results (1) and then click on the label of your choice to show the results you have received so far (2,3). You can also choose to show the correct answers by clicking on Correct answer (4).
